IFM INSTALLS NEW DIFFUSER SYSTEM IN A SLUDGE HOLDING TANK

Contacted by a local village, IFM was asked to remove and replace their existing diffuser system in one of their sludge holding tanks in the wastewater treatment facility. To complete this project most effectively, IFM decided to install fine bubble disc diffusers.

Fine bubble disc diffusers combine typical aeration treatment with membrane technology to provide uniform air distribution throughout the tank. These membranes also prolong the efficiency of the diffuser system and improves the consistency of Dynamic Wet Pressure (DWP) over the product life. DWP is the pressure differential across the membrane and the consistency will not upsurge power usage of the system overtime.

A new diffuser system was designed using these disc diffusers to allow for 750 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) of airflow throughout the sludge tank. To meet this requirement, IFM had to install 204 disc diffusers connected with stainless steel piping and PVC couplings.

Over a four (4) day time span, IFM removed all existing headers and diffusers in the tank and installed all new headers, anchors and diffusers. Once installation was completed, the sludge holding tank was ready to be filled and proper operation was checked.
